For the Santa Monica Residence, we created, in essence, a series of landscape abstractions that emphasize the site’s Southern California location and its many microclimates.  As you enter the property, the pedestrian walks through a desert landscape showcasing a living sculpture garden of cactus and succulents that extends into the residence foyer.  As you transition to the backyard, a grassy meadow with boulders and meandering pathways lead you to the swimming pool terminus.  Special care was taken to balance the rectilinear geometry of the residence with organic plant and stone formations to create inviting modern garden spaces.
