The gardens of this mid-century estate, located in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles, were given a modern update to better suit the client's needs and pay homage to the period architecture. In an effort to create a private usable front yard, custom stonewalls and gates were designed to extend the architectural finishes to the street. The a-symmetrical layout leads the pedestrian to the front entry courtyard where custom benches, bonsai pine, tree ferns and a koi pond create space for gathering. Large existing tree specimens of California sycamore and Italian stone pine have been preserved. Throughout the ¾ acre site, pathways were added and garden areas enhanced to create a cohesive landscape master plan.
